This past summer I got rid of my dual 24" AOC monitors (see post bellow from when I got them) since I didn’t think I would have space for them in my new apartment. I still don’t have space for them, but I did find that I can’t get any real work done on a 15" laptop screen.
Found this 27" 4k Dell monitor on Nextdoor last night for $100. Not bad considering it sells new on Amazon for $500. Seller included 2 mini DP to DP and a USB C to DP cable, so I’m happy with the deal. 4k is nice to have, but wasn’t something I necessarily needed. 27" screen is more useable than the 24" of the old AOCs and it takes up less desk space!
I sold the two AOCs for $130, after spending $100 on them 3 years ago, so I’m still up $30.
I’ve preordered the new Oculus Quest 2 with the intention of using it with Unreal Engine for furniture design visualization purposes. Going through the Unreal Tutorials these last few weeks on the laptop screen have been painful, excited to be more productive with this new monitor.

Nice upgrade!
4K seems like too high a resolution for a desktop, I rock a 1440 32 curved dell monitor on my desk and it’s a bit big but very nice.

Wi th scaling it’s really hard to tell that there are more pixels there. At work I use a 5k iM ac with a 1440 T hunderbolt display and I really can’t tell the difference between the two when working.

I have a 4k screen (32") , though I run it at 125% scaling. The higher pixel density is nice, but I do wish someone made something between 32" and 43" (which I decided was a bit too big when I tried it). I also have a pair of 24" 1920x1200 screens, and I really wish they were higher density (~ 137 PPI for the 32" screen vs. ~94 for the 24"ers). Sadly there’s not much interest in making 16:10 screens these days.

I like my 16:9 ratio, but have also been using computers long enough to have used 4:3 for years.
My desk at work had 2 27” monitors on it and it was too big. At home I wanted something bigger than the 2 24” I had and had a dell gift card so I bought a nice 1440 curved, high refresh 32. The screen is a bit physically large for productivity work so I have it plus a 22 1080 panel to the left of it to shove docs and other stuff while working.
That being said, flight sim looks amazing on that big 1440 panel and pushing it at 1440 is all my rx 5700XT can do.

I splurged on two 27” 4k displays this year, and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t handle low-resolution displays anymore; Apple spoiled me terribly when all their mobile devices went Retina, and of course the extra real estate is very handy.

16:9 is ok in general (provided enough vertical resolution, I’d want more than 1440px), but for my portrait displays, a 16:9 screen is too narrow (unless you go with 27"ers, but then they are silly tall). I think we might have had this discussion previously, but what I’d really like is a 50"+ curved ultrawide with at least 2160px vertical. We clearly aren’t there yet so I’ll stick with my triptych instead.

Exactly the same here. I can’t even with non-high-res monitors anymore. That’s said, I don’t need the pixel density of these Dells (which are nice), so I have two big LGs, 4K and 5k, but 30”, for CAD work.
I blame Apple 50% and old age / bad eyes 50%. (It’s probably 75% age and eyes.)

I have a school laptop, which is what I’m on now, and then a big ol’ gaming computer which is currently hooked up to two monitors, one of which is a 72 inch flat screen TV. The monitor you got was certainly a steal, so congrats on the new setup!
I see you’re already using it properly too, with work on one side and Oppo on the other.
